Founded in 1987, Compagnie Mot pour Mot creates and presents a wide range of multidisciplinary shows. On stage, out of doors, anywhere, Mot pour Mot presents a variety of creations and events, develops cooperation projects and artistic exchanges, defends accessibility and cultural diversity and includes a large section dedicated to programmes promoting the arts in education. Compagnie Mot pour Mot is based in two of the Mediterranean's leading ports : Sète and Marseille. In its 38 years of existence, Mot pour Mot has become a company with an international reputation.

Compagnie Mot pour Mot is a non-profit association governed by the 1901 law, subsidized by the City of Sète, the DRAC (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs), the Department of Hérault (34), the CD13 (13) , the Occitanie Region, the Department of Bouches-du-Rhône, the French Institute, etc.

Compagnie Mot pour Mot is a public-interest organisation that has been granted tax status (i.e. the right to receive donations and issue tax receipts entitling it to tax relief, as well as being eligible for sponsorship).
